FEATURE: Edgy Content At This Year's Documentary Festival | The Documentary Edge Festival | ripitup.co.nz
The Documentary Edge Festival 2011, Australasia’s largest documentary film festival, is only a few weeks away, launching in Auckland on February 16 and Wellington on March 10. This year’s selection is viewed as the strongest yet and alongside documentaries by the likes of Spike Lee, Oliver Stone and films documenting the lives of seminal crossover band Fishbone, Harper Lee and the Teen World Championship of Magic - it’s the addition of the 'On The Edge' programming that has tongues wagging.

FEATURE: Edgy Content At This Year's Documentary Festival

Thursday , 27 Jan 2011

The Documentary Edge Festival 2011, Australasia’s largest documentary film festival, is only a few weeks away, launching in Auckland on February 16 and Wellington on March 10. This year’s selection is viewed as the strongest yet and alongside documentaries by the likes of Spike Lee, Oliver Stone and films documenting the lives of seminal crossover band Fishbone, Harper Lee and the Teen World Championship of Magic - it’s the addition of the 'On The Edge' programming that has tongues wagging.

The more fringe based documentaries on show this year, 'On The Edge' contains documentaries that focus on David Lynch and Transcendental Meditation, the trouble with information freely available in the digital age and how it can be used to hunt down a man, the addiction (and problems) leading a Second Life,  the horrific crime of lust committed due to an internet relationship, and a Baba Dez - a sex guru forlorn for the one woman amongst many he might have settled down with.

The festival programme is now online at http://www.documentaryedge.org.nz/2011/

Feature by Benjii Jackson.
