FILM: Ben Affleck Stars In The Town

Wednesday , 11 Aug 2010

Warner Bros have debuted the official trailer for The Town, the new film directed by and starring Ben Affleck. Following up from his debut in the directors chair with 2007's critically acclaimed Gone Baby Gone, Affleck again turns the camera on the gritty streets of Boston crime.

The Town is based off Chuck Hogan’s novel The Prince of Thieves and revolves around Doug MacRay (Affleck), the leader of a successful gang of bank robbers working the Boston area. Complications arise when Doug becomes romantically involved with bank manager Claire Keesey (Rebecca Hall) -- the woman he and his crew held hostage on a recent job -- and begins to question his life.

The film has a stellar cast that includes Hall (Frosy/Nixon); Jon Hamm (Mad Men) as an FBI agent agent determined to take Doug and his cronies down; Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker) as Jem, a member of Doug’s posse; Chris Cooper (The Bourne Identity) as Doug’s prison convict father; and an almost unrecognizable Blake Lively (Gossip Girl) as Krista, a girl that shares an intimate history with Doug.

Gone Baby Gone was widely considered to be one of the best films of 2007 and judging from the trailer for Affleck latest behind-the-camera effort, The Town looks even more promising.
