FILM: The Beach Boys Musical Film On The Way

A film based around the music of the Beach Boys is apparently in development. Fox 2000 has won a bidding war with Universal for the rights to a script pitch by Susannah Grant (Erin Brockovich) and the chance to use some of the most famous songs from the iconic 60's band.

The film is apparently to be modeled on the hit stage show and movie "Mamma Mia" which included a back catalog of Abba songs throughout the movie.

The story of the film won't actually be focused on the band or its history of personality problems, legal challenges and line-up switches through the years, but will be influenced by Southern California in the 60's, the bands music and beach culture of that time.

Craig Zadan, Neil Meron and actor John Stamos are set to produce the film although a director has yet to be confirmed.
