It's official, Zack Snyder will take the helm and direct the Warner Bros. revival of Superman.

Snyder has recently come off creating successful flicks such as 300, Watchmen and most recently the animated Legend of the Gaurdians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole.  He will be joining the super pairing of Christopher Nolan and Emma Thomas who will be producing, after rescuing the Batman franchise from its near death with 'Batman Begins' and 'The Dark Knight' we are very excited about what this team can come up with.

Speaking to the LA times Snyder expressed his excitement about the opportunity saying “I feel awesome, I feel super awesome.” Other directors said to be in the running were Ben Affleck, Robert Zemeckis and Tony Scott.

Rumours have been flying with regards to possible plotlines, but the biggest hit on the story seems to revolve around the return of supervillian General Zod. With production being hurried to avoid various copywriting issues, the film is expecting a 2012 Christmas release.
