GIG: Awkward Feelings (On A) Boat
Friday , 06 Aug 2010Change is scary, but repetition is boring. After a while, every show in every bar starts to feel a little bit the same. In September, in an attempt to disrupt this state of affairs, Awkward Feelings (Cheese on Toast’s Andrew Tidball and former Little Pictures member Johanna Freeman) are bringing you BOAT ft 47 Diamantes: one real moving boat, one real moving band and a whole lot of party.
“Apocalyptic party pop” duo 47 Diamantes make bangin’ dance music with indie-pop hooks. Hailing from Wellington, Gemma Syme (Holiday with Friends, Diana Rozz) and Kelvin Neal (Holiday with Friends, the Crackhouse 5) are inspired by “teenage sensibilities” and a keen love of the party. Fun, sexy, and a little bit weird, 47 Diamantes on a BOAT will have even your most dignified friend grinding and twisting with the worst of us by the end of the first song.
Not just an awesome party, BOAT ft. 47 Diamantes is also the first in a series of awkward events in unconventional spaces over the coming months. Each installment of Awkward Feelings will combine one exciting musical act, one unusual and stimulating space and a handful of open minded audience members looking for a good time, throwing it all together to generate a healthy state of confusion, a bit of dancing and a lot of fun.
Drunken encounters, conversations with strangers in confined spaces, that first kiss… A little bit of awkwardness is good for the soul.
Let’s get awkward together.
