INTERVIEW: Julia Deans In Preparation For GrassRoots | Julia Deans | ripitup.co.nz
Are you looking forward to playing the GrassRoots festival? Hell yeah! Do you ever get nervous before performing? I do, particularly at festivals and events where there are a whole lot of acts performing. It's easier to feel more at ease when it's your own show, as you get to set up and get a feel for things rather than fire your gear on stage and launch straight into it. But i believe nerves are good. If it doesn't get your heat going, it's probably not worth doing!

INTERVIEW: Julia Deans In Preparation For GrassRoots

Friday , 18 Feb 2011

Are you looking forward to playing the GrassRoots festival?

Hell yeah!

Do you ever get nervous before performing?

I do, particularly at festivals and events where there are a whole lot of acts performing. It's easier to feel more at ease when it's your own show, as you get to set up and get a feel for things rather than fire your gear on stage and launch straight into it. But i believe nerves are good. If it doesn't get your heat going, it's probably not worth doing!

How do you feel about the other musicians on the GrassRoots line up?

I'm hoping i somehow magically meet Ms Jones and yet, at the same time, am mildly terrified by the concept.

What is your favourite album of all time?

My answer for this question totally changes according to my mood. Today I'm leaning towards Hunky Dory by David Bowie.

What does the future hold for you?

Got a bunch of things on the boil... top of the list at the moment is plotting a nice long tour with anna coddington. Can't wait! and i've got to get to work writing for a new album.

If you were a superhero, what would your super power be and why?

I would like to have unbelievably good timing. I'd never be late, and i'd always be in the right place at the right time for all those good things that happen in life including, but not limited to: split second rescues, fortuitous meetings, super tight song endings, and hilarious punchline deliveries.
