LEE GILMOUR'S STYLE BLOG: Cool Things This Week On The RipItUpRest

Friday , 22 Jun 2012

Good old social networking has brought us an overhaul of people's opinions on their favourite, most desirable and most hated things. It's time for us to give you the goods on ripitup.co.nz.

In each issue of Rip It Up I compile the style pages, a collection of cool things around for guys and girls. It's nothing too aspirational.
A massive difficulty I have is narrowing it all down to two pages, so from now on I will endeavour to post a wee blog every-other-week with a bunch of things you might dig (or not) that might not make it into the mag. Also I wanna hear your thoughts and findings! Please post your comments at the bottom of this page or email me on lee@satellitemedia.co.nz

Let's get to it. The RIPITUPREST (pinterest). yes/no? hmmm.... Why not!

Batman: Death by Design Book. This is an original graphic novel from writer/designer Chip Kidd and artist Dave Taylor. It features a newish Batman storyline and is set against a backdrop of architectural ingenuity and explosions. Check it out here

NBA Finals Mania. Everyone loves a champion....well maybe not everyone. Despite what you think of 'King James' you can't deny the boy has skills.  Go check out the coolest vintage and new threads including a wide range of NBA jerseys over at Vintage Market Place on Facebook

MS MR - Hurricane. I can't get enough of MS MR's lead single 'Hurricane' and the video is a wicked comical montage of retro style pictures. Also this week MSMR released a mix-tape to their database on msmrsounds.com. The Mixtape is called MS MR Track Addict Vol. I and features the likes of Beach House and Phantogram. It's a goodie!

Yellow Rain Coat! I've been waiting for this day to come. The classic yellow parka is coming back - well, in a stylised way. Just add a few polka dots and lining and it's a whole new modernized version of the once thin, plastic yellow rain protector. Rain coats are popping up everywhere, check out some cool rain coats here or the yellow one featured here

The Classic Wooden Roller Coaster for your desk!  I think everyone needs a roller coaster on their desk. This Cyclone Roller Coaster is a 1:48 scale working roller coaster that pays homage to the classic wooden roller coasters from the 1920s and is Illuminated by flashing LEDs that wrap around the handrails. AMAZING! Check it out here and maybe buy yourself one (do it and send me a picture).

Sammy Adams. The American recording artist Sammy Adams hit NZ this week and we caught up with him on his evolving music career, girls, partying and the way to break into the American music scene. Not only is he a stunner (and around 25) he's a very talented and a switched on dude. Check out Sammy hanging with us at Rip It Up! Video coming soon.
