NEWS: Anika Moa NZ Tour October - December 2010

Thursday , 02 Sep 2010

MORE FM proudly presents, on tour this October, November & December, Anika Moa solo tour with special guest Mel Parsons.

Anika Moa has been nominated as a finalist in this year’s New Zealand Music Awards on October 7th for Best Female Solo Artist, Album Of The Year, and Best Pop Album. Right after the awards  she takes to the highways of New Zealand for a solo national tour that takes in 21  shows from October to December.

Performing songs from her new album Love In Motion and of course her extensive back catalogue, Anika’s love for touring Aotearoa, meeting people, not to mention sampling  local wine and cuisine is infectious. She is sure to charm audiences far and wide with her heartfelt songs, razor sharp wit and a passion for performing live,  she exudes in her performances.

Kicking off in  Auckland at the Mangere Art’s Centre Ngā Tohu o Uenuku on Thursday 21st October, the 21 date tour will take her to all corners of New Zealand before she plays her final date in Wellington at the Ruby Lounge on Saturday 4th December.  Watch out for the Mazda with the guitars out the windows, and souvenir flags waving on the aerial, this tour will cap an eventful year for Anika.

Her fourth album Love In Motion was released locally in April of this year, and sees an Australian release in September through EMI. It has been nominated for Album Of The Year and Best Pop Album in the 2010 New Zealand Music Awards.

Anika has been working on a Te Reo record to be released in 2011.

Running Through The Fire has been nominated as a finalist in the 2010 Apra Silver Scrolls – her second Silver Scroll nomination.

In July Anika raised awareness for the Women’s Refuge Appeal through an auction on Trade Me, with 29000+ people viewing the page, and 200+ bidders vying for the prize pack of tickets to an Anika show,  albums, posters and merchandise, and a signed Takamine accoustic guitar. The winning bid was $7000.

Heather Henare, Chief Executive of Women’s Refuge says, “ It isn’t just about the money but the fact that 29,000 people visited the site creates huge awareness of our organisation.  We are extremely grateful to Anika for choosing to support us.  She is a shining example of the generous kiwi spirit that we see each year in our campaigns.  The money will go a long way to help our Refuges provide the wealth of services to support women and their children.”

West Coast singer songwriter Mel Parsons will join Anika for all dates on the tour. Her album’ Over My Shoulder’ was released  last year through Border Music. Graham Reid said “..an album that deserves to grab serious attention”. She toured New Zealand last year and looks forward to playing to new audiences with Anika.
