NEWS: Avalanche City Take Out APRA Silver Scroll Award For 2011

Avalanche City's Dave Baxter has taken out the most prestigious award in New Zealand music tonight by being honoured with the 2011 APRA Silver Scroll Award for 'Love Love Love'.
At a lavish ceremony at Auckland's Town Hall, Baxter beat out stiff competition from Ruban Nielson (Unknown Mortal Orchestra), Jon Toogood (The Adults), Bachelorette, Delaney Davidson and Annabel Alpers (Blanket) to win the coveted songwriters award. Read the full list of nominees below.
Head of APRA, Anthony Healy described 'Love Love Love' as "A moment of pure pop genius, simple and instantly memorable. New Zealand has already fallen in love with the song and the rest of the world may soon know all about Dave Baxter and Love, Love, Love."
Other big winners on the night were Tyna Keelan who took out the Maioha Award for contemporary Maori music for his song 'Ko Koe' and Lyell Cresswell who won the SOUNZ Contemporary Award for classical composition for his 'Concerto for Piano and Orchestra'.
Kiwi sonstress Brooke Fraser was also awarded the Most Performed Work in New Zealand award for her track 'Something In The Water' being the most played track in New Zealand this year plus legendary rockers Hello Sailor were officially inducted into The New Zealand Music Hall of Fame.
