NEWS: Beyonce Gives Birth To Baby Girl

Beyonce and Jay-Z are officially parents with the news the pop starlet has given birth to a baby girl at a hospital in New York on Saturday night.

Reports claim the child was delivered by C-section and mother and child are both doing well. Official confirmation of a name is yet to be announced however reports have come in that Jay-Z has told friends and family that her name will be Blue Ivy Carter.

A source close to the superstar couple told the Houston Chronicle 'Blu' is for Jay-Z's hugely successful 2001 album The Blueprint and 'Ivy' for the roman numeral IV for 4.

Pop star Rihanna was amongst friends of the couple who offered their congratulations via Twitter, writing: "Welcome to the world princess Carter! Love Aunty Rih". Whilst actress and close pal Gwyneth Paltrow tweeted "Welcome to the world Blue! We love you already,''

Blue Ivy is the first child for Beyonce and the second for Jay-Z.
