NEWS: Bloc Party's Frontman Afraid He's Been Fired

Friday , 23 Sep 2011

Three years after their last release, Bloc Party frontman Kele Okereke is afraid that he has been fired after the rest of the band went into the recording studio without notifying him.

The vocalist told NME that he spotted the rest of the band outside a New York rehearsal studio and that he wasn’t invited to join them.

Okereke said "I was actually having lunch about three weeks ago, just here on 8th Avenue and I saw somebody walk past and I recognised the haircut," he said. "It was Russell. I was like, 'Hey!' but he didn't see me and I followed him around the corner and then I saw Matt, Gordon and Russell all standing outside this rehearsal space. They all went inside."

He then went on to say "I hope I haven't been fired. I don't really know what's going on, because we haven't really spoken recently and I'm a bit too scared to ask."

Bloc Party went on hiatus when Okereke left to pursue a solo career, releasing his first solo album The Boxer in 2010 which received many positive reviews. His follow-up EP The Hunter is due to be released on October 31.
