NEWS: Boom Tunz Concerts Cancelled

Wednesday , 24 Nov 2010

Boom Productions, the promoters behind next months two R&B Hop Hop Boom Tunz events in Hamilton and Wellington, starring  international artists; Kelly Rowland, T-Pain, Ludacris, and Third World have regrettably been forced to cancel the two inaugural concerts due to poor ticket sales.

Director, Neil MacLeod of Boom Productions announced today that whilst public and media interest in Boom Tunz has been exceptionally strong, this has failed to translate to sales.

Speaking out the Directors said; “The international line-up for Boom Tunz is one of the hottest on offer in R&B and Hip Hop circles.  Not one, but three Grammy-award winning, platinum-plus selling artists; Ludacris, Kelly Rowland, T-Pain, along with rising star Iyaz and reggae legends Third World sharing the stage for over 6 hours of music, it doesn’t get much bigger than this, therefore we’re absolutely dismayed at the lack of support” said Mr MacLeod.

In New Zealand there is unfortunate trend with R&B and Hip Hop events cancelling. Mr MacLeod added; “Audiences need to break the cycle and support these ventures by purchasing tickets in advance so that promoters have confidence in presenting world-class acts in New Zealand – as well as ensure artists’ of this calibre actually want to perform in New Zealand.”

Tickets are refundable at the point of purchase or by contacting Ticketek

@ Rip it up you should tell Boom Productions that they should have removed the Boom Tunz Advertisement from their website yesterday when they announced the show was canceled gives people false hope.

Poor Tickets sales was due to poor advertising nobody really knew it was happening, it would have been great exposure for Hamilton and now Boom Productions has a bad name. Very disappointed.

Maybe they should just bring one at a time. Bone Thugs, 50 cent, Busta Rhymes..all had shows go on because they came by themselves. I agree with the comment about the pricing being pretty steep. It's too much in comparison to B.D.O and Raggamuffin. I don't even think Rock the Block was that much, but even then that was a big cock up. Still don't like The Game after he bailed out last minute lol. So Ludacris, if you had a concert here, it would definitely happen.

I don't know why they didn't have just the one concert to see how many tickets they sold. Maybe have the concert in Wellington as it's central, and at a smaller place to start with.

My boyfriend and I have booked accommodation and the ferry all ready to go, then two and a half weeks before the concert they cancel? That is stupid.
