NEWS: Brad Pitt: Fatherhood Made Me Grow Up

Thursday , 16 Jun 2011

Brad Pitt only matured when he became a father. The actor raises six kids with his partner Angelina Jolie - Maddox, nine, Pax, seven, Zahara, six, Shiloh, five, and two-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne.

He loves being a dad as it’s changed his life in ways he never dreamed of. Brad explained his personality has altered since he became a parent as he now knows his kids have to be at the forefront of his mind all the time.

Maturity has become an essential need since I became a dad. A few years ago, I use to have a more irreverent attitude, by nature”, he explained to French magazine Madame Figaro. “I choose my movie roles with my children in mind. I want to be able to be proud to show them my work when they get older enough to see my movies”.

In his latest film The Tree of Life Brad plays an abusive father in the 50s, whose behaviour deeply affects his three sons. The film had a deep effect on him as it shows how vitally important an individual’s actions can be.

“It explores the link between the universe and the infinitely small”, he mused. “Those little moments we experience as a child, which will define us as adults. It questions the meaning of life, death and the fact that things don't remain constant".
