Calvin Harris believes people should embrace a song even if they don’t understand the lyrics.

The DJ-and-producer has worked with some of the biggest names in the music business including Kylie Minogue and Katy Perry, and specialises in Electro House and synthpop records.

The 27-year-old Scottish star says even though his lyrics might not always make sense, fans should learn to enjoy the song regardless.

“If you enjoy the sound of it, the rest doesn’t matter. There’s an enjoyment ceiling and if you’re already there, you need look no further", he explained in an interview with NME magazine. “I mean, what means anything anyway? Give me a song that means anything to anyone! Oh, I don’t know. It’s dance music”.

Calvin has revealed his next single is a lot more emotional than his previous records. The star says he has channelled his other musical influences including Nirvana and Spin Doctors.

“That makes me sound like a complete f**king ignoramus!” he laughed when asked if he thought ‘guitar bands’ were on to something. The first band I was obsesses with was Nirvana, the first instrument I owned was a guitar, and used to love on the f**king Spin Doctors...”
