NEWS: Corinne Bailey Rae Announces New EP
Tuesday , 18 Jan 2011Corinne Bailey Rae has announced her new EP 'The Love' is to be released digitally only on January 24th 2011.
A digital-only release, ‘The Love EP’ of cover versions comes out on Monday January 24th and comprises some of Corinne’s favourite songs, recorded around the world as she toured in support of 2010’s massively acclaimed album ‘The Sea’.
Featuring the shimmering funk of Prince’s ‘I Wanna Be Your Lover’, the guitar-heavy indie rock of Belly’s ‘Low Red Moon’, a soulful reading of the Bob Marley classic ‘Is This Love?’, a Stevie Wonder-influenced take on Paul McCartney’s ‘My Love’ and a Sly & The Family Stone-inspired live version of Doris Day’s ‘Que Sera Sera’, ‘The Love EP’ is a myriad of styles and influences.
As Corinne says: "I recorded this EP as we travelled, taping a gig in Washington DC, snatching a few hours in an Amsterdam studio, recording backing vocals under a duvet in freezing New York, sweltering in Las Vegas as we couldn’t record with the noisy air-con turned on, editing in the back of a tour bus in Korea and channelling vivid memories of racing around Coachella trying to catch Sly Stone’s performance. Not only is this EP an homage to some of my favourite musicians and a conversation between some of my musical influences, but these tracks are snapshots of my year around the world."
Corinne Bailey Rae finishes her international touring with shows in Japan and Indonesia in March and then heads into the studio to start work on her third album.
