NEWS: Demetri Martin To Visit New Zealand Next Month

Wednesday , 13 Jul 2011

American comedian, actor, artist, musician, writer and humourist Demetri Martin is coming to perform two shows in New Zealand next month.

The comic who is best known for his work as a stand up comedian, contributor on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, a writer on Late Night with Conan O’Brien and for his Comedy Central show Important Things With Demetri Martin will perform at the Wellington Opera House on August 28th and Auckland's Skycity Theatre on August 29th.

Martin is famous for his unconventional stand up routine. He uses extensive wordplay, one liners and drawings on a large pad as well as accompanying his jokes with music on either a guitar, harmonica, piano, keyboard, toy bells, ukulele, sometimes all at once. Dubbed by The Guardian as "the funniest man on TV in America" comedian and law school dropout, Demetri Martin makes regular appearances as the ‘Senior Youth Correspondent’ for The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, drawing inspiration from Steven Wright, Steve Martin and Mitch Hedberg.

His Comedy Central Show, Important Things with Demetri Martin is now broadcast in many countries to wide acclaim. He has also appeared in Flight of the Conchords and on the big screen in Ang Lee’s 2009 film Taking Woodstock.
