NEWS: Drake Sued By Playboy

Friday , 02 Jul 2010

Drake has been sued by Playboy Enterprises for copyright infringement, claiming that the rapper sampled a song they own the rights to without asking their permission.

The company, which publishes Playboy magazine, revealed that it owns the 1975 Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynold song 'Fallin' In Love', and alleges that Aubrey 'Drake' Graham sampled the track on his debut single 'Best I Ever Had'. The song 'Best I Ever Had' was what helped launch the 23-year-old's career, peaking at Number Two on the Billboard Hot 100 and receiving two 2010 Grammy nominations.

Cash Money Records, Universal Music Group and Universal Music Group Distribution are also reportedly named as defendants in the suit.

Drake's first album 'Thank Me Later' then went on to sell 447,000 copies in its first week. Representatives for Playboy Enterprises, Drake and Universal had no comment.
