NEWS: Eru Dangerspiel Plays Auckland & Wellington

Thursday , 09 Sep 2010

Loop are proud to announce the final Eru Dangerspiel band line-up for their upcoming shows in early October.

With last year’s one-off concert being the talk of 2009, the Eru Dangerspiel 30-piece juggernaut is coming back to wreak havoc on the reputable dance floors of the Auckland and Wellington Town Halls.

Helmed by Riki Gooch (TrinityRoots) the 30-strong band will feature Jonathan Crayford, Whirimako Black, Anna Coddington, Lewis McCallum, Ria Hall, King Kapisi, Submariner, Mara TK (Electric Wire Hustle), Chip Matthews & Isaac Aesili (both Opensouls), Joe Lindsay, Toby Laing & Scott Towers (all Fat Freddy’s Drop), Mike Fabulous (The Black Seeds), Ned Ngatae (Dimmer), Chris O'Connor (Don McGlashan), Patrick Pihama, Miguel Fuentes (Kantuta), Anthony Donaldson (Six Volts), Ed Zuchollo (Harbour City Electric), Olga Gryniewicz with the 15-piece Dangerspiel Choir and more Dangerspiel “family” member sneaky guest appearances.

A mix of established and up-and-coming musicians, Eru Dangerspiel is like an intergalactic exploration into a musical oblivion care of some of New Zealand’s top creative talent. Expect the embodiment of sexual jazz submerged in captivating motion graphics and visuals.

Scott Kara described last year’s show as “a night of arse-shaking funk, head-down wazz outs, wild jams and wailing future soul” and this year’s two shows are promising to be just as fresh and freaky.

Witness the band’s distinguished style of dirty, bottom-heavy funk & psychedelic rhythm & blues at the Auckland Town Hall on Friday 8 October and the Wellington Town Hall on Saturday 9 October.

Anyone know where to get tickets for the Wellington show, apart from at Ticketek?

Would love to go, but I refuse to pay an $8 booking fee to an Aussie company for the privilege!
