NEWS: Erykah Badu Fined For Public Nudity

Monday , 23 Aug 2010

R&B singer Erykah Badu has been fined $500 (US) and placed on 6 months of probation for disorderly conduct after stripping in a March music video shoot.

The video for Badu's single 'Window Seat', shows Badu walking naked through the Dallas, Texas street where US President John F. Kennedy was assassinated. The charges were placed after citizens across the country complained about the video.

Shortly after the offence, Erykah posted a message on her twitter feed that read, "[video] was shot guerrilla style, no crew, 1 take, no closed set, no warning, 2 min., downtown dallas, then ran like hell." When asked about the incident on the Wanda Sykes Show, Erykah denied that she intended any disrespect towards the late President Kennedy, stating, "My point was grossly misunderstood all over America. JFK is one of my heroes, one of the nation's heroes. ... John F. Kennedy was a revolutionary; he was not afraid to butt heads with America, and I was not afraid to show America my butt-naked truth".
