NEWS: Foo Fighters Christchurch Show Raises Over $350,000!
Tuesday , 03 May 2011The Foo Fighters recent show at Auckland’s Town Hall back in March managed to raise over $350,000 for the Christchurch Earthquake Relief Fund.
The March 22nd concert ended up making an exact sum of $354,903. The show, which sold out in minutes, had ticket prices which ranged between $175 and $250. But despite the heavy price, the response from fans that attended said that it was more than worth it getting to see the band play a 3 hour set in such an intimate venue. The band's new album Wasting Light was performed in its entirety alongside a range of the Foo's greatest hits.
The Foo Fighters also managed to raise AUS$770,717 for the Queensland Premier's Disaster Relief Appeal at a show that was performed in Brisbane shortly after the Auckland one.
Frontier Touring spokesman Michael Gudinski said that frontman Dave Grohl was dead keen to help Australia and New Zealand in it hour of need.
"The overwhelming success of the concerts and the more than $1 million raised across the two countries shows how much the Foos care for the people of Australia and New Zealand and they displayed this by staging two of the more memorable rock shows in recent times".
