Friday , 14 Jan 2011

Sending their sweet sound home again, Kiwi trio Fredericks Brown are set to release their debut EP, ‘Out of the Rain’ on 1 February, from New York, with love.

Having independently left the land of the long white cloud for the Big Apple to pursue their dreams, Deva Mahal (vocals), Stephanie Brown (keyboard) and Michael Taylor (guitar) ended up finding each other.

Former key players in the NZ music scene, the band brings together their individually impressive CVs for a soul and funk infused album of rich harmonies and beautifully crafted songs.
Between them they have worked with Kanye West and Common, billed with such acts as De la Soul, Alice Russell, and Etta James, and have performed in theaters and clubs all around the world.

They also have ties to a number of renowned local acts including Fat Freddy’s Drop, Sola Rosa, Opensouls, Black Seeds and Hollie Smith.

In celebration of the release, Fredericks Brown are heading back to God’s Own for a series of shows around the country.
