NEWS: Gorillaz New Album For Free On Christmas Day
Friday , 10 Dec 2010Gorillaz are planning to release their new album as a free download on Christmas Day.
As previously reported, The animated band (fronted by Damon Albarn of Blur) have been giving away free Gorillaz downloads every day through their online advent calendar. It has been confirmed that the Advert calendar will conclude with a new free album download on Christmas day.
Damon Albarn recorded the album on his iPad. His Gorillaz partner Jamie Hewlett told Australian newspaper Perth Now "On Christmas Eve a video for one of the new songs from the iPad album will be released. Then on Christmas Day fans get the whole album downloaded to their computer for free as a gift."
Last month Albarn told NME he had recorded the album on tour and that he wanted it out before December 25.
"I wanted to make sure that it came out at the end of the tour because I don't want anyone to think I'd tampered with it," Albarn said. "If I left it until the New Year to release it then the cynics out there would say, 'Oh well, it's been tampered with'. But if I put it out now they'd know that I haven't done anything because I've been on tour ever since."
