Jack Black
won’t let his kids listen to Metallica until they’re in their “tens”. The actor-and-musician has Samuel, four and three-year-old Thomas with his wife Tanya Haden. Jack is famed for his work with comedy rock band Tenacious D and is passing his love of guitar tunes on to his kids. They already love renowned band Queen, although there is some stuff they aren’t allowed to listen to.

There is a lot of music in my house, the kids like to dance. I’ve made a playlist that we jam out to every morning, they’re really into Queen right now”, he explained. “I find Queen is great rock music for kids because it rocks but it’s not that kind of scary rock. Like I wouldn’t throw Metallica at them yet, not until they’re in their tens. Then you can bring them Metallica”.

Jack is looking forward to when his children start playing him music they love. He hopes they will open his mind, and is prepared to be nice no matter what they like.

“I’ll try to keep an open mind when they bring me the Bieber, or whatever they bring me”, he laughed on UK TV show Lorraine.

Jack is currently promoting his latest movie Kung Fu Panda 2, in which he again voices the character of Po. The loveable panda was based on him, which he is half thrilled by and half sees as an insult.

The movie also features Angelina Jolie who lends her vocals to Tigress, although they didn’t work together. Each recorded their vocals on their own, which Jack liked.

“I approach it the same as any of my roles, I put myself into it. If my character’s doing kung fu on screen I do some in the studio because I want it to match the intensity of the character. It’s a work out, it’s better than aerobics”, he laughed.

“We all worked in isolation. I kind of like it that way because then it’s all about me, selfishly. I like it to be all about me on set".
