Justin Timberlake boldly calls, Jessie J, “The best singer in the world right now”. Big call you might say but wait till you hear this girl sing...damn! In fact you wont have to wait too long to hear the pint sized Brit and her amazing voice with Universal Music NZ announcing Jessie J is coming down to NZ for a promotional visit on the 6th and 7th of May.
Her amazing debut album, Who You Are arrived at #2 on the UK album chart, quickly gaining gold sales. A little closer to home, the album quickly broke the Top Ten on the official NZ album chart.

Of course you’re already familiar with Jessie J’s hit single ‘Price Tag’ (feat B.O.B) – after climbing to the top of the UK charts, it did the same right here in New Zealand. On top of all this, the video for ‘Price Tag’ has had in excess of a staggering 37 million views on YouTube - 6 million of which came in only its first week online! Jessie J’s debut single ‘Do It Like A Dude’ peaked at #2 on the UK Singles Chart and currently has 26 million views on YouTube. Her overall online video views have surpassed 45 million. That’s quite a lot.
Jessie J - Do It Like A Dude
As if that wasn’t enough, Jessie J was recently announced as the winner of the BBC Sound of 2011 award for this year’s most promising artist, and winner of the 2011 Brit Critic’s Choice Award.
But who is this 22 year old Essex songwriter they call Jessie J? She was a child theatre star, making her stage debut in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s West End Production of ‘Whistle Down the Wind’. She has had an irregular heartbeat since the age of 11 and after suffering a stroke at age 18 Jessie J turned to songwriting and teamed up with super producer Dr Luke, co-wrote ‘Party in the USA’ for Miley Cyrus, as well as writing for Justin Timberlake, Alicia Keys, Chris Brown and Christina Aguilera.
No word yet on whether Jessie J will be performing to the public on her tour to NZ but stay tuned as we will let you know as soon as we hear wind of anything.
