NEWS: Kanye & Soundgarden To Headline Big Day Out 2012

After months of rumors and announcement delays we can finally reveal the lineup for the Big Day Out 2012. Leading the bill is Mr. Yeezy and hip hops dark twisted knight Kanye West, reformed 90's grunge heroes Soundgarden and British cockney rockers Kasabian.

West's headlining spot is a first for Big Day Out as the festival has never had a hip hop act as its headline act since the festival began 20 years ago.

Controversially brilliant rap group Odd Future are joining the Big Day Out tour for the first time alongside other first time acts including indie new kids Foster The People, Cage The Elephant and Beast Coast. Whilst returning acts include emo kings My Chemical Romance and experimental New Yorkers Battles.

On the local front, standouts from the announement include David Dallas, Gin Wigmore, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Beastwars and Cut Off Your Hands to name but a few. Check out the rest of the lineup below.

After much confusion earlier in the year the Big Day Out will again be held at Mt Smart Stadium on the 20th of January 2012. Tickets go on sale
