NEWS: Kevin Bacon To Star In Supernatural Crime Film

Kevin Bacon has signed up to play yet another villain in R.I.P.D. The actor has already played villains in 2010's Super and this year's X-Men: First Class, and he's set to play the nemesis of Ryan Reynolds character in the supernatural crime drama.

Based on a comic book series, the film finds Ryan's recently deceased police officer character hired by God to police the ghost world.

Robert Schwentke will direct from a script by Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi, with Jeff Bridges also starring in the movie as a deceased Wild West cowboy. Zach Galifianakis was originally set to play Jeff's part, but had to pull out over scheduling conflicts.

“It's a buddy action comedy that follows Reynolds' recently deceased cop character and a gunslinger who has been dead for hundreds of years as they find themselves patrolling the deadbeat... reporting to one boss. Yes that boss,” explained producer Neal Moritz previously.

R.I.P.D will be released in 2013.
