NEWS: Kimbra To Perform At Kathyrn Wilsons' NZFW Show

The public will be front row at New Zealand Fashion Week this year as Kathryn Wilson invites fashion fans and the shoe-obsessed to party at the launch of her winter 2012 collection.

Kathryn’s debut at New Zealand Fashion Week in 2010 was strictly invite only – a common trait of closed-door fashion week events. The venue held 1000 guests and spare tickets were as rare as a pair of the original Jimmy Boots! That event was all about thanking those in the industry who had helped Kathryn reach the fashion week milestone.  2011 is different: it’s all about celebrating the customers who love fashion and want to see and experience fashion week first hand.

Complemented by a band of funky virtuosos, Kimbra will perform tracks from her debut album Vows (out August 29) to the 3,000 strong crowd.  At 21 years of age, Kimbra possesses the maturity and musical sophistication of the mavericks she is often compared to – from vocal legends Nina Simone and Jeff Buckley, to radicals from the likes of Prince, to her contemporaries Bjork and Janelle Monae.

Fans of both fashion and music are in for a treat as Kimbra performs songs from the ambitiously eclectic journey which is Vows. From the album opener and lead single ‘Settle Down’, to the Motown-worthy stomp of ‘Cameo Lover’ to the jazzy bass and nimble shuffle of new single ‘Good Intent’ it is Kimbra’s live shows which have earned her the highest praise.
