NEWS: Lauren Thomson Wins Prestigious Songwriting Award
Sunday , 13 Jun 2010Lauren Thomson took home $2500 last week as the winner of the New Zealand Trust Songwriting Awards in Gore, for her song "Where Would I Be". Two of her songs were chosen for the top ten where she performed alongside the other nominees and songwriter guru, Pat Pattison.

Runner up for the NZ Trust Songwriting Award was Tami Neilson, who also took home the Tui for Best Country Album, for "The Kitchen Table Sessions". Thomson and Neilson are collaborating on the second volume of The Kitchen Table Sessions, which is to be recorded in Canada next month and released in October.
Thomson, originally from Hamilton, was nominated for an APRA Silver Scroll Award in 2008, for her song "Our Love Is Due". She has toured NZ and Australia in the last couple of years.
