Runner up for the NZ Trust Songwriting Award was Tami Neilson, who also took home the Tui for Best Country Album, for "The Kitchen Table Sessions". Thomson and Neilson are collaborating on the second volume of The Kitchen Table Sessions, which is to be recorded in Canada next month and released in October.

Thomson, originally from Hamilton, was nominated for an APRA Silver Scroll Award in 2008, for her song "Our Love Is Due". She has toured NZ and Australia in the last couple of years.
