NEWS: Mick Jagger Helps To Save London's 100 Club

The Rolling Stones' Mick Jagger has added his support to save London's 100 Club venue from closure.

Jagger said that there was a "real need" for the club, which has been threatened with closure due to spiralling rental costs.

"This is really bad news if another great venue is threatened with closure," he told Thisislondon.co.uk.

"There's a real need for these places – they have a connection with the past. And what is important is that you have places where bands can cut their teeth and places of a certain intimacy and size, that new bands can experiment in. There aren't that many great places in London, or indeed any city, that you can say that about."

The Rolling Stones performed at the 100 Club in the 1980s. A campaign to save the venue has been set up at Savethe100club.co.uk.

In related Rolling Stones news, Keith Richards has hinted that the band will tour and release new material next year.
