NEWS: New Found Glory Reveal New Album Title
Monday , 16 May 2011
Pop punk veterans New Found Glory have announced their new album will be called Radiosurgery and are planning to release the record in September via Epitaph Records.
Radiosurgery will be the bands seventh release following on from 2009's Not Without a Fight and according to guitarist Chad Gilbert the new record will be some what of a return to the bands earlier pop punk roots.
Gilbert expalins, "Radiosurgery is the most upbeat, fun record we've ever recorded. Catchy but not in a fake pop sounding way. I wanted to go back to more of the roots of punk rock and pop punk and put a whole new NFG spin on it. So imagine Green Day's Dookie, the Ramones, maybe even a little of Rancid's Let's Go all thrown into a pot of NFG. The record goes from song to song never letting up the energy".
New Found Glory have also released a detailed description of what radiosurgery, the medical terms, means and what 'Radiosurgery', the album title means. They wrote:
"There are certain things in life that are extremely hard to get over. No matter how hard or long you go trying to forget, it's always there somewhere in your mind. Some things can be so heavy they torment and enter every thought making you feel semi-insane. If our thoughts were like tumors we could have them removed".
"Radiosurgery" - is a medical procedure that allows non-invasive treatment of benign and malignant tumors. It is also known as stereotactic radiotherapy, (SRT) when used to target lesions in the brain, and stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) when used to target lesions in the body. In addition to cancer, it has also been shown to be beneficial for the treatment of some non-cancerous conditions, including functional disorders such as arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) and trigeminal neuralgia. Some have already used our record title as an analogy referring to the state of popular music or songs they hear on the radio. Saying it needs some fixing... Or "surgery".
"Music is healing. You can find a song from your favorite band that relates to a tough situation in your life and listening to it helps you. You could say that's some sort of Radiosurgery.
You can apply or relate the title to whatever you want. Truth is, it will all make sense once you hear the album".
