NEWS: Phil Selway admits 'Its daunting being in a band with Thom Yorke"

Friday , 09 Jul 2010

Radioheads's drummer Phil Selway talked about his song writing process and has jokingly admitted that he finds it almost daunting being bandmates with Thom Yorke now he's a solo musician too.

Selway is gearing up to release his debut solo album Familial but has mentioned that it can be a tough prospect writing songs around someone he rates as one of the best songwriters out there.

When asked about this, the drummer replied "i think he is one of the best songwriters around and it is a very high benchmark to have, a very high bar to have set for you. But everybody in the band has been very supportive [of my solo work]."

However, despite rating Yorke so highly, Selway hasn't been tempted to ask for his advice when writing his debut album as he admits that he's "probably no the best person at taking advice".

Familial is set to be released in August.
