NEWS: Tegan & Sara To Support Jack Johnson

As previously reported, Jack Johnson will tour New Zealand in November and December. Tegan & Sara has just been confirmed as the suppost, as well as the Midnights in New Plymouth only.

With the start of his 2010 'To the Sea' tour just around the corner, Jack Johnson is pleased to announce that Tegan and Sara, will join him on the National run of dates along with The Midnights in New Plymouth only.

JACK’S fifth studio album “To The Sea’’ debuted at #1 and has produced two singles, the beautiful melodic slice of electric bliss “You And Your Heart”, and the current single “At Or With Me' which is accompanied by a brilliantly hilarious video. The clip features Andy Samberg of The Lonely Island and Saturday Night Live fame (the SNL skit “The Mellow Show” is hosted by Samberg playing Jack) as an over zealous heckler who gets under the skin of the normally unflappable Jack.

Joining Jack Johnson on his forthcoming New Zealand tour, and after many years absence, will be Canadian duo Tegan and Sara. After years of selling out headline tours and holding court on the summer festival circuit, Tegan and Sara have become a highly anticipated live show.  Tegan & Sara’s sixth studio album Sainthood spawned the student radio hits ‘Hell’, ‘On Directing’, ‘Alligator’ and the latest single ‘North Shore’ which is at radio and music TV now.  Sainthood has solidified the band as being one of the most exciting, progressive and unconventional pop acts around and is one of their finest moments to date.

Also supporting Jack Johnson for the New Plymouth show, are Aotearoa reggae six piece The Midnights.  The Midnights’ consistent, energetic and original live shows has seen them graduate from playing house parties and gigging in some of Auckland’s seediest bars to performing well-known national festivals including ‘Soundsplash’ and Radio Active’s much renowned ‘One Love Festival’.  Having played alongside many national and international reggae and dub luminaries such as UB40, The Wailers, Third World, The Skatalites, Maxi Priest, Arrested Development and Big Youth; The Midnights have forged a distinctive sound while garnering a reputation as a formidable and world-class live act.

Continuing his work in support of the environment Jack Johnson's 2010 To The Sea Tour will collaborate with hand-chosen community groups in New Zealand (see below for full list) as part of Johnson’s All At Once Community.  Jack will once again be donating 100% of his 2010 World Tour profits to charity.
