NEWS: The Phoenix Foundation Secure European Record Deal

Friday , 01 Oct 2010

New Zealand's very own indie rockers The Phoenix Foundation have signed a record deal with UK based record label Memphis Industries. The signing will mean that their latest and most successful studio album 'Buffalo' is now slated for a worldwide release in early 2011 and the band will embark on a European tour in support!

Press Release

The Phoenix Foundation have signed a record deal with UK record label Memphis Industries, which will see their award winning album Buffalo released worldwide in early 2011.

The announcement comes after Buffalo received eight nominations for next week’s 2010 Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards, with the band already picking up the three technical awards for Best Producer, Best Engineer and Album Artwork.

A London-based label, Memphis Industries has had success in Europe with artists such as Field Music, and The Go! Team.

The band will head to Europe in January, 2011 for a two month release tour, before returning again in mid 2011.

Buffalo is the follow-up to the band’s 2007 gold album Happy Ending, which received rave reviews in the UK after its release there last year. Already released in New Zealand in April 2010, Buffalo debuted at number 4 on the NZ Albums Chart and is still going strong.

The band are also nominated in the Best Album, Best Single, Best Group, Best Rock Album, and Best Video categories for the upcoming awards, to be held at The Vector Arena on 7 October.
