REVIEW: Logic of Chance by Dan Le Sac vs Scroobius Pip
Tuesday , 29 Jun 20103 out of 5
With a distinctly British urban temperament, Essex born electronica/rap musicians Dan Le Sac (Dan Stephens) and Scroobius Pip (Peter Meads) draw from a common heritage of grime and UK garage to release their second LP, Logic of Chance. There is a rather light-hearted and pop-like quality throughout that connects the duo to the usual grime fare such as Dizzy Rascal and Wiley and makes for a personable and entertaining offering. Along with some great dance floor movers, such as the radio friendly single 'Get Better', the duo also approach more socially aware territory with cuts like 'Last Train Home' and 'Great Britain'. The cadence and tone of Scroobius Pip can be compared to 'Mike Skinner of The Streets, however he easily manages to sound individual and original. The production, all courtesy of Dan Le Sac, is progressive, beat heavy, and a world-class fusion of recent (mainly Brit) dance genres. This fun and unique album is definitely recommended for fans of the British rap and post rap scene and worth a check for all rap and hip hop aficionados.
