IN THIS ISSUE
The new issue of Rip It Up is available now, featuring the mighty Beastwars on the cover – designed for Rip It Up by award-winning illustrator Nick Keller. We also talk exclusively to Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Karen O, as well as Fall Out Boy’s Patrick Stump, Justin Timberlake, Vampire Weekend, Maynard and Danny from Tool, Dave Grohl, Shaun of the Dead and Star Trek Into Darkness star Simon Pegg, rock icon Joan Jett, The Knife, Chicks on Speed, Bad Religion, Suede, Stone Sour, Ghost Wave and many more.
Rip It Up was founded by Murray Cammick and Alastair Dougl in June 1977. It was produced as a free monthly magazine - printed on news print in black and white with one colour. Cammick ran the magazine almost single handedly until 1994 and remained as editor until 1998. He has also discovered some of New Zealand's best musical talent via his labels Wildside Records (Shihad, Head Like A Hole, Hallelujah Picassos) and Southside Records (Upper Hut Posse, Moana and the Moahunters, MC OJ and Rhythm Slave). Cammick still contributes to Rip It Up regularly.
