Queens of the Stone Age, also known by the acronym QOTSA, is an American hard rock band from Palm Desert, California, United States, formed in 1997. Since its inception, the band's line-up has included founding member Josh Homme (lead vocals, guitar), with its current line-up including longtime members Troy Van Leeuwen (guitar, pedal steel) and Joey Castillo (drums, percussion), alongside Michael Shuman (bass guitar) and Dean Fertita (keyboards, backing vocals).

Queens Of The Stone Age are reissuing their self-titled, debut album from 1998 internationally on March 7. The reissue has been meticulous remastered and will feature three additional songs including 'The Bronze', 'These Aren’t the Droids Your Looking For' and 'Spiders And Vinegaroons'. As previously reported, Queens Of The Stone Age are set to play three gigs in New Zealand in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch next month.

Following the devastating earthquake in Christchurch yesterday; Queens Of The Stone Age have postponed their Wellington concert and canceled their Christchurch concert. The Frontier Touring Company regrets to advise that, due to the latest Christchurch Earthquake, the Queens of the Stone Age show at the Christchurch Town Hall on Thursday 24 February has been canceled. We also regret to advise, tonight’s show at the Wellington Town Hall has been postponed to Wednesday 23 February at the Wellington Town Hall. Tickets already purchased for this show will remain valid for the new date.

This morning, Queens Of The Stone Age announced the cancellation of their Christchurch gig and the postponemnet of their Wellington date from tonight to tomorrow night. The band have now confirmed that the Wellington show has been canceled. So to clarify, the band played Auckland earlier this week but they are not set to play again in New Zealand.

By Helene Ravlich. The first time I ever saw Queens of the Stone Age play live was at an early incarnation of the now-huge Coachella festival, held in the band’s stomping ground the Palm Desert. The sun was slowly setting as the evening unfolded, the desert cold creeping in as the scene happening onstage grew more chaotic by the second. It was a truly magical moment, and frontmen Joshua Homme and Nick Oliveri were in killer form.
