Scary Kids Scaring Kids
Taking their name from a Cap’n Jazz song, Phoenix sextet Scary Kids Scaring Kids began spewing impassioned post-hardcore that could be both shriekingly spastic and soothingly melodic in the early 2000s. Known for a reckless, incendiary live show, the band originally comprised Tyson Stevens (vocals), DJ Wilson (bass), Peter Costa (drums), Chad Crawford (guitar), Steve Kirby (guitar) and Pouyan Afkary (keyboards). While still seniors in High School, the guys recorded their debut EP, After Dark, with Bob Hoag (Recover, the Format), independently releasing it that June before putting the band on the back burner.

How did Scary Kids Scaring Kids form? We formed in High School. All of us went to school together and we started as a way to hang out on the weekends. At the time, I was in the school glee club. I was just about to clench the state championship with my team when I was offered a spot in a really prestigious crew doing my true first love in life, street tagging. I didn't work out with the crew as well as I had hoped and when they let me go, the glee season was already over.

After 8 years, Arizona's blistering post-hardcore sextet Scary Kids Scaring Kids have called it a day but are going out on a high by mounting a Final Nightmare tour of the paths least travelled while still on top of their game. It’s a Final Tour, and there’s plenty of giveaways and prize packs to be won. Keep an eye on websites for announcements and details. The band played their last U.S. date on March 6, 2010 at Soma in San Diego, California and will embark on an New Zealand tour during September to "say goodbye in person to all the friends that have ever supported us, end the band on a positive note and start new chapters in our individual lives."
