NEWS: Top 20 Found In The Smokefreerockquest Brought to you by RIU
The top 20 high school bands in New Zealand have now been found! The following 20 bands have made it onto the shortlist from which the 8 National finalists will be selected on 17th August to fight off for Rockquest supremacy. The Smokefreerockquest national final this year will be held in Hamilton, at Founders Theatre on September 11. Tickets go on sale from Ticketek in August. Out of the above 20, eight bands will play off for the huge prize pool that makes Smokefreerockquest such an amazing spring board into the music industry. Put it in your diary now!
NEWS: Smokefreerockquest Finalists Named Brought to you by RIU
The finalist's for this year's Smokefreerockquest have been announced. With over 3000 entrants, 23 regional finals and a record 800 bands, it has now come down to eight bands from around the country left to battle for NZ High School music supremacy. Two Waikato bands feature in the top eight - they are Dinosaur Goes Rawr (DGR) and The Good Fun. They'll play off for the national title against Custard Bear from Canterbury, the Peasants of Eden from Nelson, Te Paamu from Otaki, two Auckland singer songwriters, Kriston Batistich and Massad Barakat-Devine, and Bay of Plenty four piece Malcolm Jack. The eight finalists were selected from a short list of 22 bands that director Glenn Common said had all reached a very high standard.
