Yesterday, The Beatles back catalog became available for download on iTunes making it the first time in history that The Beatles back catalog has been legally available online. 'It has been a long and winding road' said 55 year old Steve Jobs, the co-founder and chief executive officer of Apple Inc. The move is supported by Paul McCartney, Yoko Ono and George Harrisons's widow. Drummer Ringo Starr expressed relief 'I am particularly glad to no longer be asked when The Beatles are coming to iTunes.

Having released The Beatles back catalogue on iTunes last week, Apple have announced the download figures for the first seven days. They're quite impressive. Over two million songs by The Beatles (I'm resisting the urge to refer to them as the fab four because that's so cliché) have been downloaded. That's about 450,000 albums. The most popular album is Abbey Road and the most popular individual track is 'Here Comes The Sun' and the least popular... we're not sure, maybe Number 9?
